October 5, 2011 – Welcome to the first Last Place Update of the
2011 NFL season. Last Wednesday, I was
ready to talk about the Kansas City Chiefs and how their play would put them in
at least an honorable mention category as Kings of the Cellar, but they won
this past week.
Now we’re down to four.
The Minnesota Vikings, Miami Dolphins, St. Louis Rams, and
Indianapolis Colts are the last of the winless teams right now. Although each team has found a way to snatch
defeat from the jaws of victory, the Miami Dolphins have the lead for Kings of
the Cellar. Not only are they 0-4, the
lost their last three games in the 2010 season, which gives them a seven game
losing streak.
The 2010 defending champion Carolina Panthers are 1-3 and have been in every game so far this season. It's still early. Only time and their play will tell if they will repeat.
The honorable mention goes to St. Louis. This is a much better team than 0-4 or at least
they’re supposed to be. They haven’t
been a threat to win in any game so far this season. Well, they won’t lose this week, because they
have a bye.
Miami’s next loss? None
this week. They also have a bye, which
means the Update will have one, too.
