Last Place Update

Welcome to this week's Last Place Update. It is a tie! Yup, the 40-88 Houston Astros are tied with the 1962 New York Mets for wins. One more win and the Mets' record will be safe for another year. The other magic number is four, with the 2003 Detroit Tigers. The Astros have a ten game cushion over the 49-77 Chicago Cubs and a 12 game lead over the 51-75 Colorado Rockies. The AL worst Minnesota Twins are 52-75.

This week's honorable mention goes to the 56-70 Toronto Blue Jays. They are 1-9 in their last ten games, losers of their last seven.

The Astros went 1-5 since the last update. The Cubs went 2-4, the Rockies went 4-2, and the Twins went 1-5 since then.

The 1962 Mets were 30-92 and the 2003 Tigers were 31-91 after 122 games. Again, Houston need four wins to make both records safe for another year.

Will the Astros do some winning or continue on their slide to repeat as Kings of the Cellar? Will the Cubs continue their losing ways? Will the Twins continue their collapse and make a run on all the leaders?

Stay tuned. Have a great day!!!
