BCS Series Trivia - Week 14

Welcome to Conference Championship weekend. Today's entry will focus on the Top 10 teams in conference championship games.

In what could be considered the real national championship game, the #2 Alabama Crimson Tide face the #3 Georgia Bulldogs for the SEC Championship in the Georgia Dome. Alabama leads the series 36-25-4, but Georgia won three of the last four games against the Crimson Tide. Since the game is being played at a neutral site, we'll cover both teams' home records. Alabama is 22-13-4 against the Bulldogs at home, but Georgia won the last two games in Tuscaloosa. Alabama also leads the series in Athens 14-12, but the series is tied 3-3 since 1976. They first met in 1895, when Georgia won 30-6. The highest scoring game in the series was a 41-30 Crimson Tide win in 2008. The last time Alabama shut out Georgia was 31-0 in 1995. The last time Georgia shut out Alabama was 21-0 in 1976. Their last tie was 0-0 in 1954.

The #6 Kansas State Wildcats play the #18 Texas Longhorns in Manhattan. Kansas State leads the series 7-5 and won the last four meetings against the Longhorns. Kansas State leads the series at home 4-1 and is 3-1 in Manhattan since 1998. They first met in 1913, when Texas spanked Kansas State 46-0.    In the Pac-12 Championship, the #8 Stanford Cardinal face the #16 UCLA Bruins for the second week in a row. Stanford won last week 35-17, improving their all-time series record with UCLA to 35-45-3. This is the first appearance for both teams in the Pac-12 Championship game. Check last week's entry for this series trivia.

Here is an historical score for teams playing each other this week, played on this day, November 28:
