Last Place Update - March 4

Welcome to this week's Last Place Update. Let's get started.

The 13-46 Charlotte Bobcats continue their stranglehold and are on well on their way to defending their title as Kings of the Cellar. The 16-44 Orlando Magic slightly closed the gap to 2.5 games. The 19-39 Washington Wizards bring up the rear at 6.5 games back. Since the last update, Charlotte puled an 0-fer, going 0-3. Their losing streak is now at six games. Orlando went 1-3 and Washington fared a little better, going 2-2.

This week's honorable mention goes to 27-31 Portland Trailblazers. They are 2-8 in their last ten games and 7-16 since January 11. The Trailblazers start this week at home, hosting the Charlotte Bobcats tonight. Then Portland will spend the rest of their week on the road. They visit the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday, the San Antonia Spurs on Friday, and the New Orleans Pelicans, uh, Hornets on Sunday. The Trailbazers should go 1-3, but if they play well, they could break even at 2-2.

Next Losses...

As previously stated, Charlotte visits the Portland Trailblazers tonight. Then they return home to host the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday and the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday. The Bobcats finish the week in Washington on Saturday to take on the improving Wizards. This has all the makings of yet another 0-fer. If they play well, Charlotte could win one game.

Orlando visits the New Orleans Hornets tonight and then go to Miami on Wednesday to get spanked by the Heat. Then the Magic spend the rest of the week at home. They host the Indiana Pacers on Friday and the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday. This, too, has all the makings of an 0-fer, but the Magic could pull off one win if they play well.

Washington goes on the road to face the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday and the Brooklyn Nets on Friday. The finish the week at home against the Charlotte Bobcats on Sunday. Believe it or not, the Wizards could have a reverse 0-fer and go 3-0. Based on their improved play, Washington should win at least two of the games. Watch out, Cleveland, Sacramento, and Phoenix. The Wizards could put one or more of you on the radar.

Other Stuff...

In women's college basketball, Weber State continue their losing ways and are now 0-27. The Lady Wildcats finish their season on the road this week. They go to Portland State to play the Vikings on Thursday and to Eastern Washington to play the Eagles on Saturday. Weber State has an excellent chance to finish the season at 0-29.

My University of New Orleans Lady Privateers pulled an 0-fer and finished the season at 3-23. Maybe next year.

Grambling State continue to lose and are now 0-27. The Tigers lost by more than ten points in each of last week's losses.

Will Grambling or Weber State get a win before the season ends? Will one or both teams go winless?

Stay tuned. Have a great day!!!
