Some Top 25 College Football Series Trivia

Welcome once again to College Football Saturday! There are another set of great matchups, including a SEC Top 10 game between South Carolina and Florida. Here are a few from the rest of the Top 25.

   The Miami Hurricanes renew their rivalry at home against the #14 Florida State Seminoles. Miami leads the series 31-25, but Florida State is 5-2 against the Hurricanes since 2005. The Seminoles are also 17-16 at Miami. They played in the Orange Bowl in 2004, which Miami won 16-14. They first met in 1951, when Miami won 35-13. Their highest scoring game came in 2008, when the Seminoles won 41-39. The last time Florida State shut out Miami was 47-0 in 1997. The last time Miami shut out Florida State was 31-0 in 1988.

   The #18 Texas Tech Red Raiders invade Fort Worth to take on the #23 TCU Horned Frogs. Texas Tech leads the series 28-23-3 and are 11-5-3 against the Horned Frogs since 1979. TCU is 17-7 against Texas Tech at home. They first met in 1926, a 28-16 TCU victory. The highest scoring game in the series came in 2004, when the Red Raiders nailed the Horned Frogs 70-35. The last time Texas Tech shut out TCU was 24-0 in 1975. The last time TCU shut out Texas Tech was 16-0 in 1967. Their last tie was 10-10 in 1983.

   The #19 Clemson Tigers host the Virginia Tech Hokies. Clemson leads the series 19-12-1 and is 8-7-1 at home against Virginia Tech. The Hokies are 5-2 against the Tigers since 1998, including a 41-20 Gator Bowl win in 2001, the highest scoring game in the series, but the Tigers won the last two games. They first met in 1900, when Clemson won 12-5. The last time Virginia Tech shut out Clemson was 37-0 in 1998. The last time Clemson shut out Virginia Tech was 21-0 in 1979. Their lone tie was 0-0 in 1906.
