Last Place Update

The 38-83 Houston Astros lead the 46-72 Baltimore Orioles by 9.5 games for MLB's Worst.  The 50-72 Kansas City Royals are 2.5 games behind Baltimore.  At this pace, the Astros should finish the season at 51-111.

The defending champion Pittsburgh Pirates are 56-63.  They are no threat to repeat as MLB's Worst like the Washington Nationals did the previous two seasons.  On this day last season, the Pirates were 39-78.

The Astros have no worries about replacing the 1962 New York Mets as the worst team in modern times, since the Mets finished at 40-120.  The worst team of all time was the 1899 Cleveland Spiders who finished that, their last season ever, at 20-134.
