Today in 1976 - DCA Contest in Philadelphia

August 22, 1976 – Today in 1976, the Hawthorne Caballeros won in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania the day after the Blue Devils won their first DCI Championship, also in Philadelphia.

1. Hawthorne Caballeros 87.20
2. Sunrisers 85.10
3. Skyliners 82.75
4. Reading Buccaneers 78.45
5. Rochester Crusaders 75.05

Notables

• The Hawthorne Caballeros went on to win the Drum Corps Associates Championship.
  
• The Reading Buccaneers would pass both the Skyliners and Sunrisers and place 2^nd at the DCA Championships.
  
• Of the corps who competed in this contest, only the Hawthorne Caballeros, Reading Buccaneers, and Sunrisers compete today.  The Skyliners last competed in 2006 and the Rochester Crusaders last competed in 2009.
