Notables

  • This was the Crossmen’s first appearance in DCI Finals and the last year they used the gray uniforms.
  • The Crossmen were also part of two 13th place controversies.  The first was in 1979 and the second was in 1983.  In both cases, it could be argues they should have made Finals and had a case.
  • Unlike the Muchachos before them, the Bridgemen recovered from being disqualified.  They placed 4th in the 1978 DCI Finals.
  • 1977 was the second and last appearance in DCI Finals by the Seneca Optimists.  They placed 23rd in 1978 and didn’t compete in DCI again.
  • The Seneca Optimists were the last corps from Canada (Toronto, Ontario) to compete in DCI Finals until 1990 when Dutch Boy (Kitchener, Ontario) first made Finals.
  • The Kilties made Finals again after placing 28th the year before.  They made Finals for the last time in 1978.  Today, they compete as an All-Age corps in Drum Corps Associates.
